where you are is what you need
written by Nina Milanovski
I can only see a little
as though a light film dusts my peripheries
The path in front of me narrows
I can feel the water rising
begging to go "up, up" like a toddler
froth and foam surges
pushing my body forward
vaulting me into unknown landscapes
my hands reach out to catch me
or rather the sand comes up to meet me
filling the space between my fingers and under my nails
I inhale to ask,
For answers, for clarity, for purpose
The water meets me where I'm at
Wrapping around me
Engulfing me to remind me
That where you are is what you need.
